EMBRACING CHANGE

If my years on this planet have taught me anything, it’s that life plays by it’s own rules. To have a fixed and unbending idea of what my existence should be like is to be in constant battle with many elements that are out of my control. So when I go to my FB page after a short time away and now have no clue as to how to leave a post, (are they still calling them those?) and see some new “NOTE” feature that I zero understanding of, I will remain calm. Wisdom and indigestion have taught me that my old reaction to digital frustration; delivering a profanity laced monologue to no one but my laptop about how technology has done nothing but reduce us all to mindless, stimulation addicted, self absorbed children who get thrills from reality competition shows and videos of middle aged mothers knocking each other out at Walmart, is not the way to go. Even though as I write this note, the spellcheck feature is malfuntining, I will stay chill. The fast rising tide of technology will no longer cause my blood pressure to skyrocket. I will instead embrace this new “Note” feature and use it to create content as well as add to my daily word count.

Do I know what to do with this “Note” when I’m finished writing it and whom to send it to? Who the F knows? Does my finger tremble as It hovers over the “publish note” button for fear that some unforeseen glitch will delete the note and the last hour of my life completely? Abso- effin- lutely. So to combat my emotional unrest, I decide to publish this post on another platform to be safe, but wait, the same fear and frustration persist due to the fact that this platform isn’t really condusive to desktops. Taking a deep breath, I switch to mobile, push forward and decide to read one of the many self help articles found here. In the process, I manage to post the “Note” and create new content. Also as an added bonus I was able to read read numerous articles about how to be a “rockstar” in various areas of my life. Maybe there’s something to this patience stuff after all.

If this note can be anything, hopefully it will serve as inspiration for others to copy my behavior and use the internet in a more enlightened way. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to re- watch videos on YouTube of people I’ve never met, reacting to the trailers of movies I’ve already seen. Thank you for your time.
