Professional Black Silence

The Currency We Pay for Economic Success in America

Many Afro-American writers bloggers and speakers like to point out a flaw within American Racial Integration. The flaw they point out tends to lean on business and economic ventures, such as black businesses. The fatal error of integration I observe, however, does not point to capitalism, but more so towards social contracts, social interactions, and all types of the easy-to-observe-but-hard-to-explain sociological issues.

The biggest issue I find with integration (how America does it) is how we as Black people, pay in Black Silence in order to keep this counterfeit “post-racial” black/white integrated society running.

A while back ago, I wrote a column on sociological treason, which pointed at the Black person involved. In that column, I explored roughly six-character builds of black folk which spans from pandering to white racial animus, to racism denial to becoming a vicarious device. What I haven’t explored in that column was what white people think and feel, what white expectations are. I never thought to point at the sociological currency Black people spend. I plan on doing that here.

I have spent the better years of my life navigating whiteness, existing as an American professional in white spaces.

The problem with racial integration in America is the fact that it exists explicitly on white folk’s terms. If you realize that whiteness was a political decision to decide who gets the best national resources and the best prioritization, and everyone else has been, knocking and, begging, scratching on the door to get included, you’d realize that integration was not a mutually decided thing between two racial tribes (that white Americans have constructed).
