Are You Searching for Light in a Spiritually Dark World?

Among all the artificial lights of the Christmas season, will you find the true Light?

On December nights my neighborhood becomes a multicolor light show. As I walk past my neighbors’ homes, many yards are decorated with lighted inflated Santas, Charlie Browns, nativities, and any number of other popular decorations. Taken together, they illuminate our spiritual confusion. Very few front yards focus exclusively on the true Light of the World

The news reveals that my state, country, and world are very dark in spite of holiday lights. In fact, right here in my neighborhood people are destroying and stealing Christmas decorations from the yards of others. Who does this? Someone who walks in darkness.

Somewhere in my city, someone is enslaved, working for others against their will. I live on a major trafficking corridor. I was shocked to learn recently that some of our local businesses are benefiting from this cheap source of human labor. Who buys or sells slaves today? Those who walk in darkness.

We see news of mass shooters, violent gang activity, war, poverty, political corruption, and sexual immorality from all over the world. These are all deeds of darkness. They show how dark a human soul can be.

Fortunately, all who are in the dark about the meaning of life do not injure others. Unfortunately, some despair to see a world so dark and they take their own lives. They did not find the Light that could have saved them.

People stumble around in the dark because they don’t have enough light to see where they are going. Are you are searching for meaning and purpose for your life. Do you believe that you’re stumbling in the dark, not sure why you’re here? If so, you don’t have to keep doing that. There is Light for you. You only need to reach out and accept it.
